Nate McMillan: 'We set the tone tonight for who we want to become'

The first preseason game of the year against the Kings is only about 10 minutes away, but I wanted to give you a few last minutes quotes from Nate McMillan before we set this thing off.
“It’s game time. It’s here. All the talk, all the hype of this season and who we are and what we’re going to do and all of that, it starts for us tonight.

“We’ve got six games to see what we need to do to get ready for the Lakers, our opening game, and that’s what it’s about. You play to win, there’s no doubt about that, but you can learn either way. I think it’s a little easier to teach off of the “W,” but it’s for us to see where we are, see who we are with this group of guys.

It’s like you hear so much and for our guys the message to them tonight will be: What is the hype about? Who are we? We have potential and I think the hype is because of the potential that we have. We have to understand that that’s all it is. There’s potential to be something good, and now, all the talk for us, our talking needs to happen on the floor. Our voice needs to be what we do on the floor. We’ve heard it all summer long. It was great. It’s good to be talked about in a positive way, but not is the moment of truth tonight. Not meaning we have to win, but who are we? We set the tone tonight for who we want to become.”

We set the tone tonight for who we want to become. That's powerful stuff.
