The Helping America's Youth regional conference was held today at the Portland Center for the Performing Arts. Greg Oden was there to lend his support and introduce First Lady Laura Bush. Below is the video from their opening remarks.
I have been a long time blazer fan living in LA and have to say that I cannot wait to see Oden play in a regulation game. My wife and I were fortunante enough to catch him play in the Vegas Summer League with court seats. I also bought tickets on the front row next to the bench last night vs clippers so I could try to get a picture with him. I know that the demands for time on Greg must be intense, but I have to say that I have been pretty unhappy with the two times that I have asked for a split second picture. In both instances (Vegas/LA) Greg has shunned me and I have never been treated that way by any other blazer player/coach. The reason I have invested my hard earned money to support the Blazers is that they are approachable and real compared to the Teams that play here. I have supported the team through thick and thin and will continue to do so, i just hope that Greg does not have the same approach to a child who would ask for a split-second of his time. I would like to thank Lamarcus, Martell, Jarrett and Travis for taking some time to acknowledge our support. Good luck Greg I will be sure not to ask again.
