Outlaw Out Indefinitely

The injury bug has bitten for the first time this season, and he bit hard. Travis Outlaw, who is averaging 10.9 points and 3.8 rebounds in 23.1 minutes per game this season, sustained a fracture in of the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot during the first quarter of Saturday's game in Charlotte. It didn't look that bad when it happened, but the x-rays say otherwise. Outlaw is heading back to Portland after the game for further evaluation

Yet to be seen what Outlaw's injury will mean to Nate McMillan's rotation. The second half of the Charlotte game will probably be a good window into how playing time will shake out in Outlaw's absence.

  1. It is going to be a much bigger loss then many who wanted Travis gone will think. Of course non of them wanted this to happen, but they did get their wish.

My wish would be to get back in a hurry, but that won't happen.

  2. 1st bite of the injury bug? Look at the end of the bench. I see 4 players now unavailable to play, 2 of whom we will certainly miss.

We will, I am sure see more use of 3 guards, hopefully using Rudy more than we have lately. Probably more twin towers too. NO LAYUPS ALLOWED!

  3. Uncle Paul choosing Patty Mills over Ime Udoka is looking more and more questionable as each Blazer wingman keeps going down.

  5. ragermack: no doubt. i don't know what i was thinking. i don't consider patty mills or jeff pendergraphs injuries to be significant since both would have barely played this season, but the loss of batum was a serious injury bug bite.

dustin: not really. while having another body would help, outlaw was getting most of his minutes at pf, a position ime can't play.

  6. any chance we look to pick someone up? I mean it's at least 6 weeks with only 3 bigs (who have foul trouble already) and juwan

  7. @ joseph: i think that's a possibility, but who do you move? four guys are pretty much untradable due to injury, so to get someone else you'd have to move someone who's already playing. I think LA, Juwan and Dante playing more minutes is the likely scenario
