UPDATE: More on Oden's foot. It's being called a mid-foot sprain. X-rays inconclusive. Oden will undergo an MRI tomorrow.
Word is the injury occurred when Oden was fouled by Andrew Bynum in the first quarter.
We've just learned that Greg Oden injured his right foot and will not return to the game. X-ray's are being done. Nothing about this night is going the way we had hoped.
(Ed. note: I've changed the headline of this post to reflect the change in the timing of the announcement.)
*suicides*

ReplyDeleteMy best friend who is an M.D had said if Oden breaks something again this quickly...There is something "very" wrong with his body. Is this coming true?
ReplyDeleteGod I hope not
Casey I am going crazy. I need to know if he is okay.
ReplyDeleteJust updated the original post. X-rays were inconclusive. He'll have an MRI tomorrow.
ReplyDelete"Greg" ~ did Oden break his knee? Aside of his wrist he hasn't broken anything at all. Come on you guys...it's the NBA, it's tough...I'm sure the Blazers are just being cautious. They just announced it was a 'midfoot sprain' and as a precaution will be taking an MRI tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteWith that said, the team looked absolutely intimidated tonight to start. They just need to ease into the season here and try to play to their strengths.
Just saw the replay of the injury. Yewoch, I think that would have put any player out of the game.
ReplyDeletehe walked/jogged on it so it can't be broken
ReplyDeleteEven if Oden does return soon it's not going to be an easy ride. Tim Duncan, Shaq and Amare, Booz and Okur, Al Jefferson, and Dwight are not exactly easy opponents to come back against. The Blazers are going to need as much help as they can get.
ReplyDeleteGreg was mugged on that play and thrown to the ground. There is a lot of hype about him and it looked to me like the Lakers were told to not let Oden breath the whole game but after a hard foul and some bad luck it looks like we will be without our center again!
ReplyDeletewhat really gets me is, look how much this dude is making and hasn't done a damn thing...and yes, he does remind me of Sam Bowie.....think also, that the manegment and coaches are babying him way too much....goood god....how do u expect us to feel.......i don't have the same expectations as many cuz their so young...maybe in a couple of years...they may not evean get in the playoffs this year...but we'll see
ReplyDeleteLet's not forget that was Greg Oden's first NBA game! Yes, he has great potential for the future, but let's not expect an all star performance out of him for the first game. The foot sprain was unlucky-not a break-and he should return to action in a week or so. Greg and the rest of team, including 4 rookies need time to develop and mesh. Keep heads up fans.
ReplyDeleteMan I was so stressed at work today over this news. I couldn't even sleep last night. If he is going to play Friday it will lift a weight off my shoulders.
ReplyDeleteRudy is the best....the first play and bummm¡¡¡¡¡¡
ReplyDeleteChange your headline, Casey! It's giving me a heart attack every time I check the page for updates.
ReplyDeleteThe Blazer Draft Sam Bowe I mean Greg Oden with there first round pick. The Sonics take the future NBA MVP
ReplyDeletedude he sprained his foot, if you watch the replay he just came down wrong on it, the ankle twisted, but it didn't look like it would have broken any bones...i've had almost the same injury, you can still walk and jog but it hurts, and its better that he came out to get it looked at...the xrays are inconclusive because they can't pick up the hairline fractures that an MRI can, so they do the MRI just in case before they announce its not broken...i think he's gonna be ok
ReplyDeleteOutlaw had an excelent game, if someone is hot give them the freaking ball.
ReplyDeleteIt looked like the Blazers should have picked Kevin Durant!!
ReplyDeleteThanks IceCold for the insight.
ReplyDeleteAlso I'm realizing more and more Blazer fans are bandwagoners. Just get out seriously, no one cares what you think, Blazers don't need fans like you.
What's with all the negativity surrounding the first lousy game in which 4 rookies played against the Western Conf Champs on their homecourt, on TNT, and got crushed?
ReplyDeleteOden is not Bowie. All the hype surrounding him is why he got injured. He'll most likely come off the bench on Friday., but I don
t see him not playing. He said himself he can walk on it right now even though it's tender. And all of this is such awful luck at once that you have to laugh.
And where did you people come up with this broken bone theory? The man clearly didn't break anything. That's what we should be worrying about in the future, not your run-off-the-mill twisted ankle that gets better after a few days.
BRoyFTW,
ReplyDeleteAdmit it man, rooting for the JailBlazers was extremely difficult for a lot of people.
I couldn't stand that group of clowns and I was a hardcore Blazer fan for many years before that. It was unfortunate to have guys like Rasheed Wallace, Bonzi Wells, Stoudamire, and Ruben Patterson playing for a great franchise like Portland.
Oden will be fine, I agree.
On a positive note: bandwagoners bring more money to the team...thats not entirely bad, right?
Wow, a thirteen minute career.
